Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Alcohol and Young People (IPAP) - seminar 3
Wednesday 11th July 2012, 2pm, Committee Room 1, Glamorgan Building, Cardiff University.
Speaker: Professor David Foxcroft (Oxford Brookes University). Below, CISHE was awarded a certificate of commendation at the Tobacco Excellence Awards by ASH Wales on the 2nd November 2011 for the research project Changes in Child Exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke (CHETS) Wales.

Professor Laurence Moore hosted a parallel session on Lifestyle factors in cancer prevention at the 7th NCRI Cancer Conference, 6th - 9th November in Liverpool.

 

Below Professor Gareth Williams was invited to give the Wolfson Research Institute's annual lecture on the 28th October 'Connecting Communities: Resilience, Resistence and Well-being'
 
Professor Laurence Moore was invited to present at a Scientific evidence and recommendations workshop in Stockholm in October looking at the grading of evidence in public health.
 
On the 8th December 2011, Professor Gareth Williams was interviewed about life expectancy differences between the rich and the poor in Wales on BBC Radio Wales, Drive Time show.

The Julian Tudor Hart annual lecture series

Cardiff Institute of Society and Health and PHA Cymru hosted the sixth lecture in the Julian Tudor Hart annual lecture series on 7th December 2011. Professor Allyson Pollock, Queen Mary, University of London, presented 'In Place of Fear: Can Wales resist the English onslaught of market driven health care?'

The Health, Well Being and Social Care Thematic Group holds monthly seminars to encourage collaborative work and to provide an informal and supportive forum for activities ranging from research presentations to discussions of data analysis and the research process.
